Al Passatore

This was the first of 5 Al Passatore restaurants opened in Barcelona by the same Italian family. Although all of the restaurants are good, this one is said to be the best. It offers excellent, authentic food in a relaxed atmosphere. Indisputably the best house dish is the Linguine al Cartoccio - fresh pasta with squid, prawns, mussels, clams, and fresh tomato sauce, baked in the oven in tin foil. Just as excellent is the Linguine All'astice, the same fresh pasta with half a clawed lobster and fresh tomato, for only 10 euros. Their pizzas are among the best in Barcelona, with freshly made wafer-thin bases (Neopolitan style) and fresh flavoursome toppings. If you're looking for something different, try the sliced buffalo mozzarela caprese with tomato and fresh oregano, the seafood salad with clams, mussels, squid, octopus and baby prawns, or the octopus salad Al Passatore. The service is not the most attentive, but the food and the prices make it well worth it.
